Hello Everyone,

This Tuesday, November 10th, is our monthly meeting for the Midway Business Assn. This months speaker is Marie Johnson or Maggie Skenderian from the City of Portland. They will speak for 15-20 min about the work being done on Johnson Creek – especially to mitigate flooding that comes during the winter months. We have invited the Foster Area Business Assn. members to join us in this presentation.

Arrive promptly and mingle/network with the Foster businesses.

Meeting time is 11:45-1:00pm

Location is Pizza Baron – 122nd & Division

Citizen Involvement Committee (CIC)

The Citizen Involvement Committee (CIC) will involve, educate, empower and integrate the people of Multnomah County into all aspects of policy – and decision-making within county governments. The CIC does not involve itself in the merits of issues, but rather with the merits of the processes which shape the issues.

Citizen Budget Advisory Committees (CBACs)

Over the past nearly 20 years the Citizen Budget Advisory Committee (CBAC) Program has linked citizen oversight to each of Multnomah County’s departments and organizations. The Citizen Involvement Committee developed these independent citizen advisory committees to review department operations and budgets and to provide testimony and written recommendations to all county departments and elected officials on services, operations, policies, planning, and how tax dollars are to be spent.

SE 122nd Pilot Study Community Working Group

Please forward this note (below) about the SE 122nd Pilot Study Community Working Group to your e-mail group ASAP. The email includes an application for a working group with a deadline of October 15th. As we discussed, we seek one “appointed” member from Midway BA to participate in the group (along with representatives from other interest groups/organizations), but will consider adding other folks as at-large members, depending on the pool of interested parties (at this point we are shooting for a manageable group size of 15 or less).

Community Members and Interested Parties:

The City of Portland Bureau of Planning and Sustainability is conducting the SE 122nd Avenue Pilot Study – a Portland Plan pilot study exploring opportunities to create a more healthy, sustainable, and viable “20-minute neighborhood” along SE 122^nd Avenue. The project, currently underway, is forming a Community Working Group (CWG) composed of representatives of affected neighborhood and business associations, representatives of the diverse interests in the community, and other at-large members. The CWG is expected to meet up to once a month to share information, act as liaisons to other community interests, and serve as a sounding board for project staff as the study proceeds.

Recruitment for the CWG began in July 2009 – the deadline for applications has been extended to October 15, 2009. If you are interested in participating in this group, please complete and return the attached application by the October 15th deadline. Appointments to the committee will be made in late October. The application is attached and available on the project web site.

Study to determine what kind of improvements the community would like to have on the I-205 multi-use path that parallels I-205.

Dear I-205 Path Stakeholders,

I wanted to thank you for your participation in our stakeholder interview process. Your time and input are greatly appreciated.

We have moved onto the public outreach phase of the project. We will be tabling at various locations this week and we’ve opened up our public survey. Both the schedule and the survey can be found on the project website, http://i205path.org/.

I would appreciate it if you would take a minute and forward on the survey to anyone who would be interested in improving the I-205 Path.
